Technical Specifications for Outdoor Signs

• Please add a 3mm bleed on all sides.

• Supply your file in full CMYK print.

• For best printing results, supply a PDF file format – What is a PDF x1a:2001?

• Embed all fonts, alternatively, you can outline them.

• The resolution of images should be 150 dpi.

• Safe Zone should be at least 5mm away from each edge, ideally 10mm for the best results.

• To avoid disappointment, we recommend a minimum font size of 18pt and a line weight of 2pt for this product. Please have a look at our Help Centre article for more details.

Drill Hole Guidelines

• Drill holes are 5mm wide.

• If all sides of the part are 400mm or more, drill holes will be placed 30mm from the edges.

• If any side is less than 400mm, drill holes will be placed 15mm from the edges.

• Make sure to keep important design elements away from these drilling areas.

Please note that outdoor signs are a non-porous material, which means there is always a potential for ink bleed. Our tolerance is currently set at 0.25mm, so we recommend maintaining at least 1mm of space between any elements that should not merge or overlap, such as gaps between text, letters, and QR codes, to ensure accuracy and legibility.

If you require cutting to a custom shape, please supply your file in the following format:  

• Artwork for print 

• Cut path – A 100% Magenta spot colour named Cut contour with the line weight set to 0.25pt. How to create a custom cut shape for outdoor signs.

• All paths should be stroke paths and contain no fill.
